Today around 9am CEST (GMT +2) the a beam of photons will be circulated around the Large Haydron Collider for the first time, and with any luck we won’t create an artificial black hole and suck our race into extinction.

Now all of us sane people know that the LHC is quite safe and that we won’t be creating any micro-blackholes  that will devour the Earth.  In Stephen B. Giddin’s publishment ‘Astrophysical implications of hypothetical stable TeV-scale black holes‘ this is explained precisely why its not a factor.

Perhaps the most important discovery or lack thereof that will emerge from these high energy particle physics is the discovery of the Higgs Boson, otherwise known as the “God Particle.”  If found this revolutionary research findings could rival that of our 1897 discovery of the electron.

I thank those particular scientists involved in finding that electron cloud, because otherwise you might not be reading this blog on the internet with your PC while light being generated and manipulated in order for you to visualize each color and pattern/images on the screen…
