So just recently Google has posted its long anticipated BETA release of its own webrowser code named ‘Chrome.’  The question that lingers in my mind though… Don’t we have enough webrowsers, and why reinvent the wheel?

Simple answer… they think they can do it better! (Google: A Fresh Take on the Browswer).  Can they?  We’ll have to see how things progress, and if they progress.  Google has been notoriously known for projects being forever stuck in BETA.

One thing I do really like is the “incognito” feature that allows you to open a new window for browsing that does not show up in your browser history.  This ability alone seams to be a well thought out new take on security and privacy options.  Based on the rendering engine ‘WebKit‘ Chrome should fully pass the Acid2 standards test since WebKit itself blazes the way with 100/100 on the Acid3 testing.

All in all currently its a bit unpolished and still has a long ways to go, but hey… its a BETA.  Quite possible if it gets over the Google Beta Blues that it could be the application portal future generations use for our Web 2.0 world.
